Leadership Livingston Class of 2025 Completes Facilities Upgrade Project for Dog People of Livingston Parish

Denham Springs, LA — The Leadership Livingston Class of 2025 has successfully completed its second community project, partnering with Dog People of Livingston Parish to deliver critical facility upgrades supporting low-cost spay and neuter services in Livingston Parish.

Dog People of Livingston Parish is dedicated to improving the welfare of pets and their families through affordable spay and neuter services, education, and community outreach. As the organization prepared to open a new facility in Denham Springs, leaders identified several essential upgrades needed to better serve the community and reached out to Leadership Livingston for support.

The Leadership Livingston project group adopted the initiative and, through fundraising and community partnerships, helped transform the facility with both functional and cosmetic improvements. With $12,115 raised, 142 volunteer hours, and support from local businesses, the project made a significant and immediate impact—benefiting more than 1,000 individuals and families.

Project highlights included:

  • Installation of a commercial washer and dryer, the organization’s top priority, eliminating the need for volunteers to make multiple daily trips to local laundromats to keep up with demand. Special thanks to Stine Home + Yard in Walker for providing a generous discount.

  • Window tinting in areas where dogs wait prior to surgery, improving temperature control and animal comfort.

  • Paint, trim, and cosmetic upgrades that refreshed and revitalized the new space.

  • Funding and installation of a security alarm system to enhance safety for staff, volunteers, and animals.

  • Construction support provided by Floyd Bayham of Bayham Construction, with additional assistance from B & P Construction, making the project possible within a limited budget.

Despite modest financial resources, the Leadership Livingston Class of 2025 demonstrated how strategic leadership, collaboration, and community engagement can create meaningful change.

“These improvements will allow Dog People of Livingston Parish to focus on their mission and expand access to affordable spay and neuter services throughout Livingston Parish.”

The Leadership Livingston Class of 2025 remains committed to developing community leaders through hands-on projects that leave a lasting impact.
