Important Dates: October 25 - November 1 - Early Voting November 8, 2022 - Election Day   What's Hot on the Ballot and elections? Lots to consider this election as communities and smaller municipalities in the parish are feeling the push and pull between the inevitable growth and visionary plans. It will be pivotal in this election as to the future of those areas. School board races are hot as candidates are being asked to answer a burning question - where to get the funds for salaries. Next year, a 1% tax will be on the ballot. Where do candidates fall on that? In April 2022, super low voter turn out resulted in taxes passing with less than 2% of voters deciding the tax impact of over 41,000 voters. More voters should weigh in on these elections. a 1/2 cent sales tax passed with a 8.9% turnout. and a 20 year - 15 mil - fire protection tax was passed by about 800 voters or 3.5 % of eligible voters.
